Tea Gargle

4tea bags
1cuphot water
1tspsalt
1Tbsugar

Steep tea bags in hot water for at least 10 minutes. Remove bags, squeezing all liquid into the cup.

Gargle a mouthful for 1 minute every hour.

We got this recipe from a doctor after experiencing extremely painful recurrent cold sores over a period of weeks. This mixture is not to be swallowed, but if you feel a cold sore coming on and gargle with it (or just swoosh it around in your mouth so it goes over the incipient cold sore), it will prevent the sore from ever reaching the painful stage. The sugar has no medicinal value - it's only there so that when you gargle you don't throw up from the salty stewed tea flavor.
