Cinnamon Toast

From Fannie Farmer

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl.

Make toast. Butter the toast liberally. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the buttered toast. (If you like, you can shake off the excess, but that's optional.) Eat.

The official Fannie Farmer recipe says to toast the bread on one side, then to butter the untoasted side, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on it, and then to toast the buttered and sugared side until the sugar melts. "For a party, prepare early in the day and do the final toasting at teatime." I'm not entirely clear on how one toasts only the upper side of a slice of bread...under the broiler, maybe?
