Chocolate Buttermilk Cake - Dorm Variation

Signe used to make this as an after school snack in high school

1/2cupflour minus 1 Tbsp
1/4cupsugar
1/2tspcocoa
1/4tspbaking soda
 pinchsalt
1/4cupmilk
1/2tspvinegar
2Tbspmelted shortening or vegetable oil
1/4tspvanilla

Stir dry ingredients together in a cereal bowl. Add wet ingredients. Eat (or cook in the microwave for particularly substandard cake).

This makes about a quarter batch of Chocolate Buttermilk Cake - the proportions are slightly different, but not really enough to matter. Note that the conversion from buttermilk (or sour milk) to milk and vinegar has already been done, on the premise that no college student intentionally has sour milk lying around. If you inadvertently have sour milk lying around, go ahead and use 1/4 cup of it and skip the vinegar.
